Generate fake test data

Output

Data

10 rows, 2.30 KiB

Emails use the example.com, .org and .net domains RFC 2606 reserves, phone numbers the 555-0100 to 0199 range set aside for fiction, and IPs the documentation blocks, so a test that accidentally sends a message reaches nobody. A fixed seed makes fixtures reproducible across runs.

Runs in this browser. Nothing you paste is sent to a server.

Safe by construction

Test data leaks: into staging emails, into screenshots, into a forgotten queue that finally sends. Using domains reserved by RFC 2606, the 555-0100 to 555-0199 phone numbers set aside for fiction and the TEST-NET address ranges means a mistake sends nothing to anyone.

Seeds make fixtures stable

A fixed seed produces the same rows every time, so a fixture file can be regenerated and the diff is empty unless the field list changed. In code, Faker (PHP, Python) and @faker-js/faker do the same with far more field types, and Laravel's model factories use Faker underneath.

Frequently asked questions

Can I generate data for a specific locale?
The names and cities here are a mixed international set. For locale-specific data such as German addresses or Japanese names, use Faker with a locale in code.
Is generated data unique?
The id field is sequential and UUIDs are random. Names and emails can repeat across many rows; add the id to an email if it must be unique.
Is what I paste sent anywhere?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type or paste is sent to our server or stored.
