HTML head

<link rel="manifest" href="/site.webmanifest"> <meta name="theme-color" content="#4f46e5">

Serve it as application/manifest+json and link it with <link rel="manifest">. Chrome's install prompt needs a name, a start_url, a 192 px and a 512 px icon and display other than browser, and an id keeps the installed app's identity stable if start_url later changes. A maskable icon keeps its content inside the central 80% safe zone so Android can crop it to any shape.

Runs in this browser. Nothing you paste is sent to a server.

What makes an app installable

Chromium browsers offer installation when the manifest has a name or short_name, a start_url, icons of 192 and 512 pixels and a display mode other than browser, and the site is served over HTTPS. Setting an id keeps the installed app's identity stable if start_url changes later. The fields are defined in the Web Application Manifest specification.

Maskable icons

Android crops icons into circles and other shapes. A maskable icon keeps its important content inside the central 80% safe zone and fills the rest with background, so cropping never cuts the logo.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between scope and start_url?
start_url opens when the app launches; scope is the set of URLs that stay inside the app window. Navigation outside the scope opens in a browser tab.
Do I need a service worker to install a PWA?
Chromium no longer requires one for installation, but a service worker is what provides offline support.
Is what I paste sent anywhere?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type or paste is sent to our server or stored.
